The Honorable Katrina Shealy and Mr. Jimmy Shealy

The Honorable Katrina Shealy and Mr. Jimmy Shealy

South Carolina State Senator Katrina Shealy first got involved with the Foundation after her husband Jimmy served on the hospital's board of directors.

"I saw the great work the Foundation was doing. I knew it was something I had to become a part of and help." She learned there was a simple way she could have real impact on issues that mattered to her.

I wanted to be able to give a larger, more substantial gift to benefit the needs of the Foundation, and funding my gift through life insurance makes that possible."
Katrina made the Foundation a beneficiary of her life insurance to continue the work she has so passionately championed throughout her life.

"I don't think of it as having a legacy as much as knowing you are funding a great cause. I have two passions in life – helping children and helping those who are unable to help themselves." Senator Shealy chose to name the Foundation as one of her beneficiaries to receive a specific percentage of her life insurance benefit value when she passes, while also providing for her heirs.
